What we do for local businesses: search, Maps, AI answers and ads
Engine & Agent AI is a digital marketing agency for local businesses where one new customer is worth a lot. We help you get found on Google and Maps, named in AI answers, and seen in Google and Facebook ads. Every account stays in your name, and a human approves our work before it goes live.
Search and AI visibility
People find you when they search, and AI tools name you when a buyer asks who to hire. SEO is the base. AEO works on making your answers the ones Google and AI tools quote. GEO works on getting you named by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Copilot. AIO covers Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode, and checks each month what AI tools say about you.
Local SEO and Google Maps covers your Google Business Profile, the map pack and your reviews. We set up or clean up your profile as its manager while you stay the owner. We keep your name, address and phone the same on the listings people check, and give you a review request that asks every customer the same way.
SEO
Rank in Google and Bing results and the map pack: technical fixes, structured data, pages that answer real questions.
Local SEO and Google Maps
Your Google Business Profile set up and cleaned up, map-pack work, citations, and review requests that ask every customer the same way.
AEO (answer engine optimization)
Become the quoted answer: featured snippets, People Also Ask and the passages AI answers lift.
GEO (generative engine optimization)
Get named when someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude or Copilot who to hire or where to go.
AIO (AI Overviews and AI visibility)
Show up in Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and check each month what ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI say about you.
Websites
A fast, accessible site with your services, prices and hours written as real text, and structured data built in, so customers, Google and AI tools can all read it. We fix the site you have first, and suggest a rebuild only when fixing would cost more. See websites.

Ads and leads
Paid visibility for when you need calls this month. We run Google Ads and Local Services Ads and Facebook and Instagram ads in your own ad accounts. We also build your own lead flow: forms, call tracking and lead alerts. We never sell or resell leads.
Google Ads and Local Services Ads
Search, Performance Max and Local Services Ads campaigns run in your own ad accounts, with call and form tracking.
Facebook and Instagram ads
Meta lead-form and traffic campaigns run in your own ad accounts, with honest creative and new-lead alerts.
Lead generation
Your own lead flow from search, Maps, ads and forms, with call tracking and lead alerts. The leads are yours, never rented or resold.
What does a digital marketing agency do for a local business?
It brings you more of the right customers from the places they look, and shows you where each one came from. For a local business, the work falls into four jobs:
- Get found: rank in Google results and the map pack, with a website and Business Profile that search engines can read.
- Get chosen: reviews, clear answers and consistent facts, so customers and AI tools have a reason to pick you.
- Get calls sooner: ads for the weeks you need leads now, not next season.
- Count what came in: calls, forms and bookings, each tied to its source.
A good agency does all of this in accounts you own, tells you what it changed and reports leads, not likes.
How do I get more customers online?
Start where customers already look for a business like yours, then make it easy to reach you. For most local businesses, this order works:
- Claim and complete your Google Business Profile. Adding or claiming it costs nothing, according to Google.
- Make your website readable. Services, prices, hours and phone as text, quick to load on a phone.
- Ask every customer for a review, the same way. Google’s review policy bans selectively asking for positive reviews.
- Keep your name, address and phone identical on every listing people and AI tools check.
- Answer real questions on your pages, one service per page.
- Add ads if you need calls sooner. They stop when you stop paying.
- Track every call and form, so you can see which of these is working.

Where should a local business start?
Start with the problem that costs you the most calls today.
| If this sounds like you | Start with |
|---|---|
| You don’t show on Google Maps, or your profile has wrong hours or a wrong pin | Local SEO and Google Maps |
| You need calls this month | Google Ads and Local Services Ads |
| Your site is slow, old, or shows services only as images or PDFs | Websites |
| Competitors get named when people ask ChatGPT, and you don’t | Free AI visibility snapshot, then GEO |
| You get visits but few calls or forms | Lead generation |
| You pay for shared leads and want leads of your own | Lead generation |
| Your work is planned, not urgent: a remodel, a new patient, a seasonal plan | Facebook and Instagram ads |
| You’re not sure which of these is true | Free AI visibility snapshot |
Which services work together?
SEO is the base, AI answers build on it, and ads rent visibility on top.
- SEO feeds AI answers. Google says there are no extra requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode: a page needs to be indexed and eligible to show in Search. The work that ranks your site is the same work that gets it read.
- Your profile and reviews feed the map pack. Google says more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking, and that there’s no way to pay for a better one.
- Ads sit beside both. They put you at the top today and stop the day you stop paying. The unpaid work keeps going.
Who do you work with?
Local businesses where a single new customer is worth a lot. Our industry pages follow US rules and platforms today, and we build those rules in: attorney advertising for law firms, Fair Housing for real estate agents, health claims for dental practices and med spas, and license numbers where your state requires them for contractors such as HVAC, plumbing and electrical and roofing and restoration. See all industries.
What does it cost?
Prices aren’t on the site yet. We quote after the free snapshot, once we know what your site, profile and accounts need. What’s already fixed:
- A flat fee, agreed up front. We don’t charge per lead. For law firms it’s always a flat fee: no share of legal fees and nothing per case.
- Ad spend is separate. You pay Google or Meta directly, on your own account.
- Month to month, with 30 days’ notice to cancel.
- No setup fee.
Who owns the accounts and the leads?
You do. Your domain, website content, Google Business Profile, Google and Meta ad accounts and every lead stay in your name. We work through invites, such as manager access on your Business Profile and user access on your ad accounts, never through your passwords. You can remove our access at any time, and if you leave, everything stays with you.
What won’t you do?
- Guarantee rankings, AI mentions, a lead count, a cost per lead or a return on ad spend.
- Sell or resell leads, or run your ads from our own accounts.
- Buy reviews, links or mentions, or ask only your happy customers for reviews.
- Mass-produce near-identical city pages.
- Claim a Google Partner or Meta Business Partner badge. We hold neither.
- Put anything live without a human’s approval.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to get started?
The free snapshot comes first. Month one is the foundation sprint: technical fixes, structured data, your Business Profile, your main pages rewritten to answer questions first, and a baseline report. Ads go live only after you’ve approved them.
How long does a new website take?
It depends on how many pages you need and how fast we get your content and approvals. A typical build takes 7 to 10 days from the day we have your content and access. Your current site stays up until the new one passes our checks and you approve it.
Why do you call yourselves an AI agency if you also run ads?
Because specialist AI agents do the work, and a monthly check of what AI tools say about your business is part of our search and AI visibility work. But AI answers build on the same basics as search, and an owner who needs calls this month can’t wait for that work to pay off. So we cover the whole path from a search to a phone call, and we’re upfront that ads stop when the spend stops.
