Why we built an agency with AI agents and a human in charge
Engine & Agent AI exists because customers now ask AI tools who to hire and where to go, and local businesses have no easy way to see what those tools say about them. Specialist AI agents do the careful, detailed work. A human owner approves every deliverable. We started in 2026.
Why does Engine & Agent AI exist?
Because search changed and the advice didn’t get any clearer. Owners hear that ChatGPT is replacing Google, get pitched by agencies promising page one, and receive reports full of numbers that don’t connect to the phone ringing. We wanted something simpler: show you what AI tools actually say about your business, do the real work to improve it, and report in plain English around leads.
Why use AI agents to do the work?
Because good search work is detailed and repetitive. Checking every page of a site, matching your hours across a dozen listings, asking AI tools the same customer questions every month: agents do that quickly and the same way every time. Each agent has one job and a written playbook. What agents don’t do is decide what goes live.
How do the AI agents and the human owner split the work?
| AI agents | Human owner |
|---|---|
| Research, audits and AI checks | Sets each client’s plan and scope |
| Draft pages, posts, review replies and emails | Approves every deliverable before it goes live |
| Write structured data and build websites | Approves every email before it’s sent |
| Check facts, rules and accessibility (Rhea) | Makes the call when a rule or a fact is unclear |
| Write the monthly report (Max) | Sends the report and answers your questions |
For law firms, a lawyer at your firm also signs off on everything published in the firm’s name. For dental, med spa and vet practices, a dentist, your medical director or a vet approves anything about treatment.
What rules do you work by?
- No fake signals. No fake or bought reviews, no review incentives, no asking only happy customers, and no asking for Yelp reviews. No bought followers or links, no fake “best of” lists, no fake accounts on Reddit or forums. Paid placements carry a visible “sponsored” label.
- No guarantees. We never promise rankings, AI mentions, traffic or leads. We promise the work and show how we measure it.
- Human approval. Nothing is published, posted or sent without our owner’s approval, and yours.
- No passwords. Access comes by invite, which you can remove at any time.
- No invented facts. Prices, years, credentials, licenses, certifications, awards and statistics come from you in writing or from a cited source.
- No treatment claims. For dental, med spa and vet practices, we don’t write outcome promises or give medical advice, and review replies never confirm someone is a patient.
- Accessibility. We build and check pages to WCAG 2.2 level AA.
- Lawyer-advertising rules. The ABA Model Rules 7.1 to 7.3 and your state bar’s rules, with a lawyer at your firm signing off.
- Your industry’s rules. Dental and veterinary board rules, Fair Housing for real estate, federal advertising rules for interstate movers and pesticide advertising rules, as your industry needs.
- Review rules. The FTC’s rule on consumer reviews and testimonials, in force since October 2024, plus Google’s and Yelp’s review policies.
How new are you?
New. Engine & Agent AI started in 2026. We have no client case studies, testimonials or logos yet, so we don’t show any. When we have real results and clients agree to share them, we’ll publish them with enough detail for you to check.
Who owns Engine & Agent AI?
Steve Hudson runs Engine & Agent AI. He builds and runs several online businesses - publishing, YouTube channels and a comparison site - with teams of AI agents doing the production work, and he reviews everything this agency produces before it goes live. We work with businesses across the United States.
